Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch is a clarinetist, saxophonist, pianist, composer, ethnomusicologist, educator, conductor, and Yiddish/ Eastern European style singer. Since 2008, he has been an Assistant Artistic Director at National Yiddish Theatre, working with Zalmen Mlotek, one of the most authoritative figures in the modern Jewish theater and music world. He has also co-arranged a score for Itzhak Perlman’s 2012 album Eternal Echoes: Songs and Dances for the Soul and then performed in the TV production of this program on PBS – Thirteen/WNET (Rejoice).
Doug Leblang began performing as a pianist at age five and has entertained audiences worldwide. He performed in the Catskills, toured over fifty cities in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico with his band “Celebration,” and then led another group, “Main Squeeze” on a holiday tour of over forty US Army and Air Force bases in Europe. Besides singing in Yiddish and Hebrew, he also plays accordion, clarinet, keyboards, and is a great storyteller and comedian. He has performed with many famous artists but the highlight of his musical career is performing with Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch who he considers one of the giants of klezmer music today. Together their performace is electrifying!
